A Look Back at The Previous Schedule
Quiz Hacker on Substack has come a long way since I launched it less than five months ago. In that time, I’ve published 130+ drills and articles. While a few of those were repurposed from my stand-alone website, the vast majority have been written from scratch. For most of the last month, you could count on waking up to a new hand-crafted Daily Drill every morning, supplemented by a couple of strategy articles each week and my weekly newsletter, The Score, on Sundays. Maintaining this posting schedule has been both challenging and rewarding, but I’ve decided I can do even more to help you raise your scores.
The Road Ahead: Your New Weekly Lineup
Starting next week, the schedule is getting an overhaul to better serve your needs:
Mondays: New drills with in-depth answer explanations, exclusively for my supporting subscribers.
Wednesdays: A fresh article, which could cover anything from general strategies to question type tactics, to official ACT/SAT answer explanations, ACT/SAT grammar lessons, new targeted drill sets, or Question Type Inventory.
Fridays: A brand-new, FREE drill, complete with comprehensive answer explanations, available to one and all for the first 24 hours.
Saturdays: My newsletter, The Score, will now find its way to your inbox on Saturday mornings, keeping you updated and kickstarting your weekend prep.
All new posts will still go live bright and early at 6:30am ET.
Why the Change?
So, why am I tweaking the formula? Several reasons:
Quality over Quantity: My previous weekly posting routine didn't give me ample time to publish answer explanations to real questions from official ACT and SAT exams. While I take a lot of pride in the drills I craft, there's no substitute for the real thing. It's crucial for students to see how the strategies and tactics from my proven system can be used to solve authentic exam questions. When that light bulb clicks on, students start using the methods more consistently, and scores really start to shoot up!
Sustainability: As a young blog, just under five months old, Quiz Hacker on Substack is still a work in progress. Adjusting the schedule allows me to keep delivering quality content without spreading myself too thin. With over 60 drills (counting drill sets), reducing the frequency ensures you get the most out of each one. Thus, I’m scaling down to two drills a week. That will still add up to over 100 drills in the first year—definitely enough to keep your grey matter churning!
Reader Engagement: I’ve noticed that Sunday is a quiet day in the online world. Shifting The Score newsletter to Saturdays will hopefully engage more of you when you're not wrapped up in family activities or weekend errands.
In short, the new schedule aims to maintain the high-quality content you deserve, while also being more comprehensive, sustainable, and engaging.
So there you have it! Changes are afoot, but they're all geared towards making your prep journey that much more successful. Thanks for being a subscriber, and don't forget to check out the new lineup next week. It’s going to be good!
Until next time, remember to Prep Smarter!
~ Dave
